  1. Fantasy Football 2018-2019

Hello Keepers. It's that time of year again, time to play; I think I could be a great Premier league manager. If you have signed up last year, you should already be in. If new to the forum and FB group, here is the league code: 1109316-249623 and site https://fantasy.premierleague.com/ Keep it fun and friendly, anyone caught being unsportsmanlike, will be booted. And if we are lucky, we will get some brands to throw in some prizes.
  2. Fantasy Football League Have a crack and managing your team and join the GKT league. https://fantasy.premierleague.com/ League Code: 751388-180042 A few rules before we get started: You must identify yourself and team name either on this post or via the FB group post. Failure to do so will mean you will get booted from the league and you will not be eligible for any prizes should there be any. We have has some wonderful brand owners in the past donate some prizes. Will this happen this year? Maybe.

Welcome to then forum. Your club sounds like a good time, hoping it works out for you.
  4. Hey Y'all

Welcome to the forum, and welcome back to playing, Nick. If you don't mind, where in the land O Trump are you?
  5. What got you into goalkeeping?

Was always comfortable between the sticks. On the school ground I always volunteered to go in goal. After age 12, that was it, in the net permanently.
  6. Hi Guys.

    Welcome to the forum
  7. Enjoy Goalkeeping

    Welcome to the forum.
  8. any tips on knee protection?

Trousers defiantly help out. Also what I have been using for futsal the last couple of years are low profile volleyball knee pads. I could care less what I look like, as long as I can walk the next morning. ;)
  9. hello

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to the game. I'm sure it missed you.
  10. Supporting a club outside your country

From my American perspective again, when I grew up watching and playing football, leagues in the states were non existent or at a Sunday league level at best. There were no teams to support. For quality football we watched matches from abroad. This meant that we mainly watched the big teams. I remember watching Man U, Liverpool, Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan. Teams in that class, big teams. We didn't have the exposure to the lower leagues. Therefore you picked a team that you saw on a regular basis. This could be the case in many other areas of the world. People become a fan of the EPL because it is readily available and high quality football, then they pick a team to support. In all likelihood this will be a team toward the top of the table, as more of those matches are televised. The 9 year old kid waking up early and eating a bowl of cereal in front of the TV to watch a football match half way around the world, in my eyes, is just a big a supporter of a club as the person who travels across the country to see their team lose in the pouring rain and cold.
  11. Your first pair of gloves?

I can't even remember back that far. If I do recall correctly they had green palms (might have been rubber) and the rest was black. I think my dad found them in the clearance isle, they might have been from the early 80s for all I know This first pair of gloves that I had that I was very proud of were some uhlsport 051s. Used them to there were no palms left.
  12. Supporting a club outside your country

In my opinion, I do not think that due to the fact you can not attend a match you should not be considered a supporter. I support an EPL team that is at the bottom of the table, I have a couple of tops and have never been to a match. Hell I have never been to any EPL match. I do not live in England and can't afford to fly over and watch a match (no matter how much I would love to). I am a huge supporter of a baseball team back home but do not go to games as I do not live in the states currently. Am I demoted because of this not matter how much financial support I give in the form of merchandise purchases? Without outside supporters (those who do not go to matches) I believe that the level of the EPL would be no where near it's current status. Without investments from all over the world and TV rights for sale the quality of play would not be the same. When it comes to bandwagoners, I totally understand. I never understood that, you stick with your team through thick and thin and you do not choose your team just because they are winning. That issue is easy, Bandwagoner = not a true fan (Don't get me started on people who wear Yankee hats but can't tell me who their first baseman is)
  13. Finger Protection

I use FP glove on occasion. Typically just in a couple fingers that are a bit dodgy (sprained, jammed, that kind of thing). I also will train in full FP gloves for futsal because of the amount of reaction saves where you can make awkward contact on the ball. I can see them being used by young keepers you haven't yet developed the strength in their hands. But for the most part no FP for me.
