Rangers are lining up a summer Bosman move for the Kilmarnock goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

The 24-year-old, who kept his latest clean sheet during yesterday's win at St Mirren, is yet to sign an extension to his contract at Rugby Park, which expires at the end of this season.

That has alerted Rangers, whose goalkeeping coach, Jim Stewart, has overseen Bell's arrival into the Scotland international setup. Bell earned his first cap during the friendly with the Faroe Islands in November.

Rangers' first-choice goalkeeper, Allan McGregor, is expected to leave Ibrox for England at the end of the season. Manchester United have kept a close eye on McGregor, as have Aston Villa and Birmingham City.

Aberdeen have also shown interest in Cammy Bell

Kilmarnock have signed Finnish goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola subject to international clearance.

The 23-year-old has agreed to join on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Czech Republic side Slavia Prague.

Club secretary Kirsten Callaghan told BBC Scotland: "Once we get Anssi's paperwork through we'll be able to complete his transfer."

Fellow keeper Cammy Bell has also been offered a new long-term deal, which it is understood he has agreed to sign.

Bell gained full international honours with Scotland when he came on as a substitute against the Faroe Islands in a 3-0 win at Pittodrie in November.

The addition of Finnish under-21 international Jaakkola means the Ayrshire club now have four goalkeepers including Bell, Kyle Letheren and Alan Combe.

Find this one hard to beleive to be honest. Well the Swansea bit anyway as they have Dorus De Vries who hasn't put a foot wrong the whole time he's been with them. Norwich well that one might be a bit more realistic

Responding to recent criticism from club legend Franz Beckenbauer, Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has struck back over claims that the club had failed to snap-up Manchester United target Manuel Neuer before the player attained world-class status, and insisted that he will eventually sign for the German giants.

Hoeness taunted the goalkeeper's club, Schalke, and suggested that Germany's best goalkeeper belongs at Bayern, telling Sport Bild:"I am sure that everything will turn out as it should turn out."

Arsenal sent a scout to Hearts' meeting with Rangers yesterday, with the north London club understood to be monitoring the form of Allan McGregor.

Aston Villa, Manchester United and Sevilla have all been linked with McGregor, the Rangers goalkeeper who is expected to generate a transfer fee of about £5m if, as is likely, he departs Ibrox at the end of the season. Madjid Bougherra, the Rangers defender who has been linked with Arsenal in the past, also played in Hearts' 1-0 win at Tynecastle.

McGregor, who turns 29 this month, was a virtual spectator despite his team's defeat. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal's scouts continue to study him as they look to solve what has proved a troublesome position for Arsène Wenger. McGregor's age may count against him, with Wenger generally in favour of signing younger players.

Two and a half years after selling Paul Robinson to Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham are considering resigning the goalkeeper to replace Heurelho Gomes and give the club stability in goal, according to Sky Sports.

The former England goalkeeper has been in excellent form for Rovers since he moved to Ewood Park and has continued to excel this season as the club have risen to seventh place in the Premier League.

And with Gomes still liable to make mistakes Harry Redknapp is believed to be interested in bringing Robinson back to the club.

However, Rovers manager Steve Kean is unlikely to want to lose his goalkeeper as he starts to build the club for the future after signing a new contract last week.

Carlo Cudicini replaced Gomes in goal as Tottenham drew with Newcastle at St James' Park on Saturday, with the Brazilian struggling with a minor injury.
